There's a birthday field in contacts.... why doesn't it show as an All Day Event in Calendar? Preferably with some preference for how soon to give you a reminder.
WebOS should be able to pair with devices over bluetooth that are not headsets. For example, it should be able to pair with laptop computers without the laptop initiating the pairing connection.
The Mojo SDK should be publicly available and easily accessible to anyone.
The App Catalog needs an option to show installed apps that have updates available (like Apple's App Store has now).
All of the contacts on the Pre are currently jumbled together. It would be preferable to add category tags such as "Personal" or "Business" or "Archival" and give the user the option to default to a category to display.
We need SSH on the Pre, with keys. SSH enables a variety terminal applications including IRC, and remote administration. Additionally, that grants the Pre the ability to administer my desktop at home.
The Palm Pre should allow tethering. This should be allowed over Bluetooth, WiFi, and USB. In WiFi mode the Pre should make its own ad-hoc network, and run a dhcp server with NAT.
IPhone OS does this and it feels very natural. Webos web forms also feel a little sloppily rendered. Would be nice if Enter key tabbed through fields the way sev apps do in the OS
Developers apps can tell when
- the device is on a touchstone
- the device is charging
- the device is not charging
- the device has less than 50% battery

This would allow apps to slow down resource consumption when the battery dips below 50%, allow the apps to use as much as it wants when charging, and off special stuff if it is on a touchstone.
I know, its a small thing, but it'd be really useful to know how many character's I've typed into a text message.
All alert types should be controllable from one location. Right now, if I want to turn off audible e-mail alerts, but leave messaging alerts and the ringer audible, I have to go into the e-mail app menu, select the account, and turn off alerts from there. If I want to turn off e-mail alerts and messaging alerts while leaving the ringer on, then I have to go to the messaging app menu in addition to the e-mail app menu. These should all be individually controllable from the "Sounds & Ringtones" app.
We you start adding lots of apps it because more difficult to get to them.

I want to be able to make more pages or can I have a list mode like on Palm OS?
I want to customize what my Pre displays while it sitting on my Touchstone all day at work.

Basic: Which notifications, today's date, current weather

Advanced: slideshow out of my photo albums, etc
When you go back to an MP3, it starts over from the beginning each time. This is problematic when listening to long podcasts. This is further complicated by the fact that you only have the ability to skip forward and back by tiny increments. Ideally the Pre would store the last point that you were listening to an MP3. Another way to address this issue is to integrate a "scroll bar" to allow you to jump to a specific time in the MP3.
I know that you can connect profiles in the palm contact manager, but it's "hard." Many of my dups and multiples are due to nicknames and such that make it difficult for synergy to merge them. An improved merge function would be useful.
There should be an option to customize alert sounds based on their source (one sound for e-mails, another for calendar alerts, etc.). An option to set a custom alert for messaging from a contact (just like custom ringtones now) would be good, too.
When listening to MP3s the Pre goes into power saving mode, as it should. The unfortunate part of this is that the Pre does not have an elegant way of pausing and restarting MP3s while in this state. Currently you need to take out the Pre, press the power button, unlock the Pre, then find and press the on screen pause.

I would find it ideal if the "center" button paused and restarted MP3s while the screen is off. I understand that this button could be accidentally pressed by some users, so I assume this would be an activatable feature. I also realize that the Pre hardware and OS may not monitor this button while the screen is off but there are other possibilities. For instance, rapidly turning the Pre on and off could act as a pause button
I would really like to see the Urbanspoon application, for the Palm Pre. This would use the GPS to show restaurants around your current location.
We need other messaging standards for the Palm Pre messaging app.
-Jabber/XMPP
-IRC [used in many corporations]
-Yahoo
-MSN
-Facebook chat
Photos supports uploads to Facebook and Photobucket. I'd also like to see Flickr or Picasa.
There's no reason this shouldn't work, in my mind. At a minimum, there should be an instant "type and go" search for a song/artist/album, which at the moment doesn't exist even in the Music app itself.
In old Palm OS calendar apps, all I had to do was start typing and it would plop in a new event. Would love to see that or similar functionality (on-screen "+" button would be fine, as in Mail, etc) in webOS. Any common task that requires me to go to app menu needs to be rethought.
the palm pre should be the first mobile device with an awesome native google wave client. Like a mail client it can inform you about ongoing/new conversation non intrusive and in a nice way.
To move an application in the Launcher you simply touch the application for a moment and then drag it to where you want it (simple enough) and if you want to move it to a different one of the three pages, you move it off the edge of the screen (again simple enough).

The issue is that if you put a case on the phone, there is an raised edge at the edge of the screen and it is very difficult (1 time in 10) to successfully get the application to the "edge" of the screen before the raised edge of the case pulls your finger up enough to "drop" the application.

This "dropping" does not occur until well after the application is viewed as "close" to the edge and this problem could be "easily" solved if Palm adjusted the "crossover point" when moving applications
Pre should support mono developement. specifically, the moonlight mono/silverlight plugin.
