I want to customize what my Pre displays while it sitting on my Touchstone all day at work.

Basic: Which notifications, today's date, current weather

Advanced: slideshow out of my photo albums, etc
In old Palm OS calendar apps, all I had to do was start typing and it would plop in a new event. Would love to see that or similar functionality (on-screen "+" button would be fine, as in Mail, etc) in webOS. Any common task that requires me to go to app menu needs to be rethought.
When listening to MP3s the Pre goes into power saving mode, as it should. The unfortunate part of this is that the Pre does not have an elegant way of pausing and restarting MP3s while in this state. Currently you need to take out the Pre, press the power button, unlock the Pre, then find and press the on screen pause.

I would find it ideal if the "center" button paused and restarted MP3s while the screen is off. I understand that this button could be accidentally pressed by some users, so I assume this would be an activatable feature. I also realize that the Pre hardware and OS may not monitor this button while the screen is off but there are other possibilities. For instance, rapidly turning the Pre on and off could act as a pause button
The Pre should be able to create and join ad-hoc wifi networks.
There should be an option to customize alert sounds based on their source (one sound for e-mails, another for calendar alerts, etc.). An option to set a custom alert for messaging from a contact (just like custom ringtones now) would be good, too.
IPhone OS does this and it feels very natural. Webos web forms also feel a little sloppily rendered. Would be nice if Enter key tabbed through fields the way sev apps do in the OS
There's no reason this shouldn't work, in my mind. At a minimum, there should be an instant "type and go" search for a song/artist/album, which at the moment doesn't exist even in the Music app itself.
To move an application in the Launcher you simply touch the application for a moment and then drag it to where you want it (simple enough) and if you want to move it to a different one of the three pages, you move it off the edge of the screen (again simple enough).

The issue is that if you put a case on the phone, there is an raised edge at the edge of the screen and it is very difficult (1 time in 10) to successfully get the application to the "edge" of the screen before the raised edge of the case pulls your finger up enough to "drop" the application.

This "dropping" does not occur until well after the application is viewed as "close" to the edge and this problem could be "easily" solved if Palm adjusted the "crossover point" when moving applications
I listen to a lot of podcasts and each podcast from the same source tends to have a tag on the front of the title identifying it. So all of the podcasts I get from ifanboy.com start with "Ifanboy.com pick of the week podcast" followed by the name of the pick of the week. When I see this on the menu selection, EVERY ifanboy pod cast shows up as : "iFanboy.com Pick of the Week..."

There is no way to distinguish these from each-other other than to play the mp3. Possible solutions would be to have "scrolling" names for long titles, have an application that intelligently eliminates reused content from the display (my favorite option), or have the full name pop up ANYWHERE when a title is selected or "tapped"
We need other messaging standards for the Palm Pre messaging app.
-Jabber/XMPP
-IRC [used in many corporations]
-Yahoo
-MSN
-Facebook chat
We need SSH on the Pre, with keys. SSH enables a variety terminal applications including IRC, and remote administration. Additionally, that grants the Pre the ability to administer my desktop at home.
WebOS should be able to pair with devices over bluetooth that are not headsets. For example, it should be able to pair with laptop computers without the laptop initiating the pairing connection.
The Palm Pre should allow tethering. This should be allowed over Bluetooth, WiFi, and USB. In WiFi mode the Pre should make its own ad-hoc network, and run a dhcp server with NAT.
I know that you can connect profiles in the palm contact manager, but it's "hard." Many of my dups and multiples are due to nicknames and such that make it difficult for synergy to merge them. An improved merge function would be useful.
Would love to see a C SDK for game development
Palm should consider open sourcing the webOS™ in an effort to gainmore market share.
The Mojo SDK should be publicly available and easily accessible to anyone.
